NAF’s Ataxia Clinical Training (ACT) program debuted in March 2022. The primary objective of this training session is to acquire practical knowledge about the diagnostic investigation and treatment of ataxias. Attendees can expect a full agenda, including a series of didactic lectures by ataxia experts, as well as panels, networking opportunities, and hands-on clinical demonstrations. At ACT, attendees receive cutting-edge, focused instruction and exposure to the latest clinical research in the ataxia field. Notably, attending ACT provides the opportunity to personally interact with patients and families affected by a wide spectrum of ataxic disorders as ACT is held alongside the National Ataxia Foundation’s annual patient conference. ACT curriculum, designed and taught by leading clinical experts, includes talks on diagnostic approaches to ataxias, hereditary and acquired ataxias, neurogenetics of ataxias, treatment of ataxia, and research on ataxia.
ACT provides attendees with the ability to network with ataxia experts, world-renowned clinicians and scientists, and explore opportunities for specializing in this field. There is a need for new talent and ideas, given we are ushering in an era of cutting-edge molecular, biopharmaceutical, and bioengineering tools that hold significant promise for the cure of neurodegenerative disorders.
The highlight of ACT is interactions between attendees and patients affected by a wide spectrum of ataxic disorders. Very few conferences offer the opportunity to bolster didactic knowledge with hands-on clinical training and patient engagement, making this course unique in its training scope.
Feedback from prior attendees:
ACT is an intensive course designed for all interested neurology providers including residents, fellows, attending physicians, advanced practice providers, allied healthcare professionals, and industry professionals seeking to broaden their understanding of Ataxia diagnosis and clinical management.
A certificate of completion will be awarded to each attendee who attends all sessions and completes all aspects of the program including required pre-reading and on-demand lectures, pre-and-post tests, and course feedback evaluations.
