Note Regarding NAF’s Genetic Counseling and Testing Initiative
Launched in 2022, NAF began offering free virtual genetic counseling and genetic testing for individuals who are at-risk for SCA1, SCA2, or SCA3. Since launch, the program has facilitated approximately 400 Pre-test Genetic Counseling sessions and returned approximately 300 genetic test results.
As of October 1, 2024, this program has reached its quota of available counseling sessions and tests available in 2024. Please stay tuned to NAF communication streams by becoming an NAF member if you are interested in a program update in 2025.

NAF proudly announced our Ataxia Centers of Excellence (ACE) sites in May & September 2023. We have designated 24 U.S. and international clinics whose providers demonstrate exceptional clinical care, a commitment to professional training and research, and focus on community outreach and education for patients and families.
